Kenopsia

Kenopsia is a cozy, emotional 3D game that mixes nostalgic storytelling with simple, interactive UI elements. While most indie walking sims focus on atmosphere and avoid too many mechanics, this game leans into vintage-style interactions, like checking old messages or playing CDs, to make the experience feel more personal and immersive. The idea came from both research and real stories: studies show that nostalgia often shows up when people feel lonely, stressed, or disconnected, and it can actually help us feel better and more grounded. I also gathered responses from people online who shared how things like old websites, childhood toys, or even golden sunlight made them feel nostalgic. Kenopsia is built around that feeling—the strange mix of comfort and sadness when you remember something that used to mean a lot. Through dreamy visuals, soft sounds, and memory fragments, players slowly reconnect with their younger selves. The goal is simple: to make people feel seen, comforted, and maybe even healed. If the game can do that, then it’s already a success.
